A soulless bureaucrat
Chinovnik is a vulnerable, poor, hardworking, and ordinary figure. He embodies the “mechanized little man” a person without human relationships, living solely for his work.
In 2011, I was working as a civil servant, and I struggled through that period. I wanted to express, visually, how deeply affected me. At the time, I was in a depressive state, though I didn’t fully recognize it. I never questioned whether it was my reality or simply that I was in the wrong place doing things what is not my way. It wasn’t until more than eleven years later that I realized I had been suffering from depression a condition that had gripped me strongly for a long time.
