Compulsory military service in Hungary was abolished in 2004, yet military stories have long remained part of Hungarian life. The friendships and bonds formed there often endured for years, and a sense of camaraderie was unmistakable. In this photo essay, I visited former soldiers who lived this world, either as a profession or through conscription.
