A Soulless Bureaucrat
Chinovnik is a vulnerable, poor, and hardworking figure the “mechanized little man” who exists without real human relationships, living solely for his work.
In 2011, I worked as a civil servant and struggled through that period. I wanted to express, visually, how deeply it affected me. At the time, I was in a depressive state, though I didn’t fully recognize it. I never asked myself whether this was truly my reality, or simply the wrong place, doing work that wasn’t mine.
Only more than eleven years later did I realize that what I had endured was depression, a condition that had gripped me tightly for a long time.
